Teen Charged In Brutal Beating Of Guard: Authorities

KANE COUNTY, IL — An 18-year-old Kankakee man accused of brutally beating a guard at the Illinois Youth Center faces felony charges in adult court, authorities said this past week. The Daily Herald is reporting Antonio Harvey Jr. has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery/great bodily harm, aggravated battery to a victim 60 or older, aggravated battery in a public place and aggravated battery to a peace officer in connection with the August 2018 attack.

Prosecutors were recently given permission to petition to charge the teen. At the time of the attack, Harvey was 16 years old, according to the Daily Herald. Authorities say he slammed the guard, who was older than 60 years old, to the ground and beat his upper body.
