Textbook Draws Fire But Will Remain in Use by St. Charles District 303

District 303 will continue using a textbook called Social Studies Alive! that has drawn criticism from at least one local parent and conservatives throughout the country, according to an Aug. 16 Daily Herald article.

Superintendent Don Schlomann opted to retain the book after reviewing the parent’s complaints, the Daily Herald article states. St. Charles District 303 school board members made the decision go along with Schlomann recommendation Monday.

The textbook likely will stay in district classes for two more years, according to an Aug. 16 TribLocal article.
