The Week Ahead for East Main/Route 64 in St. Charles
Drier conditions have allowed road crews to make strides in the past week. Here's what to expect this week.

Drier weather allowed work to move ahead on the East Main Street/Route 64 reconstruction project. Here’s what to expect in the coming weeks, according to St. Charles Public Works Engineering Division Manager James Bernahl.
As always, “weather permitting” is key to the anticipated construction schedule.
38th Avenue to Route 59
Storm sewer work between Keil Street and Powis Road is expected to continue and be ongoing for the next two to three weeks.

Crews will continue grading and restoration work on Smith and Kautz roads. Final grading and restoration work is due along the parkway on East Main Street from 38th Avenue toward the Smith and Kautz intersection. Bernahl expects this restoration work to be completed in two to three weeks.
The contractor plans placement of concrete at East Main Street and 38th Avenue, and at the Pheasant Run entrance. Both locations are tentatively scheduled to ope Monday May 8, 2013.

Construction work related to the new bridge near Powis Road should continue through the next few months, Work is focused on the bridge’s center lanes; traffic is being diverted to the new outside lanes. Completion of work at the bridge expected by mid-July 2013..
7th Avenue to Kirk Road
The breaking and removal of the existing roadway on the north side of East Main Street from near 7th Avenue will continue, moving east as crews improve and expand existing storm sewers within the Illinois Department of Transportation right of way.
Curb installation will continue on East Main Street between Tyler and Kirk roads. Crews have framed and prepared for installation of new curbing on the east side of Dunham Road. Permanent concrete patching for the proposed roadway widening will be included in this concrete work.
Storm sewer improvements will continue on the north side of East Main Street from 13th Avenue to Tyler Road, advancing east toward Dunham Road in the coming few months.
Construction crews will begin forming and replacing two retaining walls — retaining wall No. 2 is near the intersection of East Main Street and Cedar Avenue; retaining wall No. 3 is on the north side of East Main Street, about 500 feet east of Hunt Club Drive. This work is expected to continue for three to four weeks.
Pavement grinding and removal work will continue mainly on the north side of East Main Street from 7th Avenue toward Kirk Road for the next few weeks.
