Hi! My name is Tracy Heilers and I'm the owner/director of Matrix Sports Camp, a new multi-sport summer camp in Chicagoland that uses sports as a platform to teach personal leadership skills, stress management tools, the importance of real food for fuel, and mindfulness practices to youth aged 7-14 years.
Our camp's tagline is "where outer game meets inner game" and this reminds us that when we make our inner game (mind and emotions) a priority, then our outer game will become super-charged with present-moment awareness and intention. Sport and academic performance will be achieved much easier in this 'peak zone' and we will be empowered to make positive changes in our lives and in the world around us.
Since these 'seize the day' skills need year-round practice, I thought of forming an online Matrix Wellness Club where schools and parents could visit to get creative ideas for advancing their school and family wellness goals. Many schools are starting up wellness committees and beginning from scratch in this area. With 10 years experience as a mindful parent, yoga instructor, and wellness coach, I hope to share a wide range of wellness activities, including lesson plans and event ideas, so that you can spend more time with your kids and less time in the office planning.

My goal is to get lots of other Wellness Clubs started at local schools. So what exactly is a Wellness Club? Really anything you want it to be! I like to think of it as a creative club for bringing awareness to the wide-ranged topic of holistic wellness: mental and social-emotional wellness, as well as fitness, nutrition, sustainability, green living, etc. Being holistic means you are aware of the interconnections of all things. You think of how your actions will affect your whole self (mind-body-spirit) and the whole world before you make your choices. Once you become more educated on a certain wellness topic, you then have the responsibility of spreading your truth to others-so activism is also an important part of any Wellness Club.
I will be piloting most of my ideas at my children's school, learning what works and what doesn't with different aged kids and different sized groups, and then sharing everything with you! So join me on my family's wellness journey and make sure to share YOUR ideas with the online Club as well. If we all work together, we can turn holistic habits into a way of life, change the world, have lots of fun along the way!
