What’s New at Scarecrow Fest for 2013
Professional set designer to help lay out Lincoln Park setup.
Expect to see some things in a new light at the 2013 Scarecrow Fest, which runs Oct. 11-13.
The Greater St. Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau said solar-powered path lights will be used to illuminate the scarecrows displayed in Lincoln Park this year, a first for the event.
Another first, the Visitors Bureau said, is that the Lincoln Park display will be laid out with the help of a professional set designer. That service will be provided by Ravenswood Event Company, chosen by the Greater St. Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau to provide operational support for this year’s event.

The Visitors Bureau said fest-goers also will be able to meet Ted Eynik, who will share stories about the 20 elaborate, moving displays he has created during the fest’s history.
“Due to circumstances beyond his control, Ted was not able to enter a Scarecrow in this year’s contest,” said Amy Egolf, executive director of the Greater St. Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau. “But, he has become a tradition of our festival, and we know attendees who attended past fests specifically to see his creations will be eager to meet him and see examples of the techniques and elements he used to bring so much enjoyment to so many festival-goers.”

Lincoln Park once again will boast the main stage for free entertainment. But there will be three new entertainment areas:
On 1st Street between Main and Illinois.
Along the Riverwalk that borders the river’s east bank.
The Visitors Bureau said the additional venues will encourage foot traffic throughout the citywide festival grounds.
