Winter Storm Could Wreak Havoc on Tuesday Commute

ST. CHARLES, IL - Kane County residents could face a difficult commute Tuesday morning.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Kane, DuPage and Cook counties starting at 9 p.m. Monday and continuing through 9 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. The winter storm is expected to start out Monday evening with light rain, which will mix with freezing rain and then turn to all snow early Tuesday.

The area could see between two to four inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

Strong winds between 25 and 35 mph could also create significantly reduced visibility and could cause dangerous travel conditions. Drivers are cautioned to prepare for slippery roads and limited visibility.

Counties closer to the Wisconsin border are expected to see even more snow and a winter storm warning has been issued for Lake and McHenry counties.
