• Sycamore authorizes $1.4M in contracts for road projects in June (shawlocal.com) — Sycamore drivers can expect significant road work after the City Council approved more than $1.4 million in contracts for 2026 projects, including Stark Avenue and multiple streets citywide. A Crystal Lake firm will handle the motor fuel tax work, while a separate contract targets full reconstruction on Stark to better coordinate with homeowners’ driveways.

• DeKalb County Community Foundation Opens New Grant Program for Community Ideas (1023thecoyote.net) — From its Sycamore base, the DeKalb County Community Foundation is launching a new Upward Mobility Grant Program offering up to $5,000 for projects that boost opportunity and quality of life. Residents and groups can submit ideas July 1–Aug. 1, even without nonprofit status, with bilingual help available and awards announced in early November.

• Americans off to strong start in singles at IBF World Youth Championships in Malaysia (bowl.com) — Sycamore’s own Landin Jordan is shining on the world stage, finishing ninth in Boys’ Singles to reach match play at the IBF World Youth Championships in Malaysia. He’s one of three Junior Team USA boys advancing, with more singles, doubles, and team rounds ahead this week.
