159th Street Roadwork Begins March 2 In Tinley Park
Lane closures will occur on the Tinley Park, Oak Forest, Orland Park and Orland Hills portions of 159th Street.
The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will resurface a five-mile stretch of 159th Street from 94th Avenue in Orland Park to Cicero Avenue in Oak Forest beginning Monday, March 2 (weather permitting). Lane closures will occur on the Tinley Park, Oak Forest, Orland Park and Orland Hills portions of 159th Street.
According to IDOT, drivers should expect delays and allow extra time for trips through the work area.
“Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment,” an IDOT spokesperson said in a news release.
The project, which is slated to be finished by July, also includes construction of new American with Disabilities Act- (ADA) compliant sidewalk ramps. Previous work included curb, gutter and sidewalk repairs.
