Accused Batterer Screams He's Going To Kill Woman After Bonding Out of Jail: Cops

Man charged with harassment of witness.

Tinley Park, IL -- Police arrested a Tinley Park man who stood outside the apartment of a woman who accused him of battery and threatened her after he bonded out of jail, prosecutors said.

Kevin Leroy, 45, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a charge harassment of a witness.

According to the allegations, Leroy was charged with a battery on June 21. When he bonded out the next day, he returned to the apartment complex where he lived in the 18000 block of Oak Park Avenue, Tinley Park.

The prosecutor said Leroy harangued the woman for 45 minutes screaming that he was going to kill her. A witness caught part of the alleged rant on video.

Leroy has a pending electronic harassment case out of Will County. He also has two misdemeanor battery convictions, and served four years for aggravated DUI in the Illinois Department of Corrections, the prosecutor said.

The assistant public defender told the judge that Leroy and the woman had exchanged words.

“That’s still not all right,” Judge Felice said.

Bail was set at $200,000. He was ordered to have no contact with the woman.

Leroy is due back in court July 21 in Bridgeview.
