Kirby School District 140 celebrated the many contributions of Mrs. Deborah Puckett, retiring President and 17-year veteran of the District’s Band Parents Association, at their Spring Concert on May 3rd.
The evening included a surprise performance of one of her favorite concert pieces, On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss, by David R. Holsinger. The song was conducted by her oldest son, Michael, while her other children, Timothy, Amanda, and Madalyn, performed with the Symphonic Band on stage. All four of Puckett’s children are alumni of District 140’s band program.
After the concert, Band Director Ray Forlenza, spoke of Puckett’s dedication and presented her with a special plaque commemorating her contributions to the program.
