Tinley Park High School’s Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) recently hosted a district-wide holiday mixer. The event was coordinated by the four district GSA Advisors, Mike Cicirale (Hillcrest), Mary Iverson (Tinley Park), Mary Rose Bernas (Bremen), and Jamie Hahn (Oak Forest). Students participated in ice breaker and team-building events, thereby forging new friendships and bringing forth greater understandings of individuals and their backgrounds. Pizza and treats were served by the advisors as a compliment to the evening of learning and fun! All involved left the experience having gained greater social competence and compassion.
