Artist Captures Magic of Kyle Schwarber's Home Run in Epic Flipbook
Twenty-nine seconds of history—and brilliance.
Those wondering where Schwarber’s monster home run landed were thrilled to learn it will stay right where it fell —atop the new Wrigley Field video board. Encased in glass as a good luck memento for the team, the ball brings a bit of magic that harkens the era of Harry Caray—and a postseason he would have loved to see.
“I’m a sucker for a nice display box,” said artist Ben Zurawski. “So since Kyle Schwarber’s home run was shrine-worthy, I figured it is also flipbook worthy as well. Harry Caray’s thick glasses just fit in too perfectly not to include.”
It was a labor of love for Zurawski, who passed on sleep to finish the book.
“I go a little overboard sometimes when I have a flipbook idea I’m really excited about, and this was one of those times,” Zurawski said. “The idea came to me yesterday evening and I just stayed up all night working on it. So in this rare case, from start to finish, it took me less than 12 hours.”
And this flipbook created by artist Theflippist? Well, just have a look.
