Basket of Hope Packing Event at Trinity Lutheran
There is still a need for volunteers to pack baskets for ill children. Baskets of Hope will be delivered to Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn.

Trinity Lutheran student Elijah Floerke and his mom, Janelle have collected donations to pack baskets for ill children at Advocate Chilldren’s Hospital. They are asking the community to come help pack this Saturday.
“ It’s about giving back to the community,” said Janelle Floerke, mom of three that attend Trinity Lutheran school and church.
The family has packed food several times for Feed My Starving Children. This year they are asking for help in packing for Baskets of Hope at Trinity Lutheran Church this Saturday, August 5th at 10AM.

“We’re the hands and feet of Jesus” Janelle added. “If you can’t come and volunteer you can make a donation to Basket of Hope, then click on the Chicago link. All the funds stay in Chicago to make a difference at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn”.
Elijah Floerke, who is the oldest of the Floerke children wanted to continue to make a difference in the community. “Basket of Hope is a non-profit that helps kids in the hospital,” said Elijah. “The kids feel so much better after they get a basket,’ he added.

Last year Elijah and his siblings raised enough money from a lemonade stand to feed two children for a year. “ I wanted to help other people,” said the teen.
This year instead of buying lemonade, the Trinity Lutheran Jr. High student is asking the community to come pack baskets.
“We can use the help,” said Elijah.
To register to pack this Saturday, August 5th at 10AM, go to https://basketofhope.org Click on Events then register under Chicago Basket Assembly. The packing will take place at Trinity Lutheran in the gym. Trinity is located at 6850 159th Street in Tinley Park. The filled baskets and totes will be delivered to Advocate Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn.
“You can either have a hand up or in your pocket,” explained Janelle. “As a family, we put our hands up to make a difference.”
