GiGi's Playhouse Moves into New Home in Tinley Park

One day, plenty of volunteers—and the move is done!

There’s no place like home for GiGi’s Playhouse.

The local chapter of a national network of nonprofit Down syndrome support and education centers has successfully moved out of its former Oak Forest location, into its new digs in Tinley Park. The location at 16800 Oak Park Ave. includes room for families to work on fine and gross motor skills for adults and teens, as well as group activities, and private space for families to discuss diagnoses.

The move was done swiftly, all in one day, on Nov. 23. Volunteers swooped in to unload the moving trucks.

“The turnout today was beyond even my expectations, and here are pictures to prove it,” wrote staff on the GiGi’s Facebook page. “THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Three PODS fully unloaded in 45 minutes. ... I’m sure we set a record.”
