Gimme 5: Andrew's Truesdale Finds His True Calling

T-Bolts pitcher gives up cross country in order to devote his time and energy to baseball, a game that he first picked up at the age of 4.

For Andrew senior pitcher Daniel Truesdale, baseball isn't just a hobby--it's a family business.

Truesdale started his baseball career at the age of 4. That's when he played in his first T-ball game. He said his father inspired him to get into the sport.

"My dad played baseball," Truesdale said. "I watched him play, and it made me want to play, too."

But Daniel's athletic career didn't always revolve solely around baseball. For three years, he also was a member of the Thunderbolts' cross country team. Then, he decided baseball was his true passion.

"I feel like it's more of a mental game," he said. "It's fun to be on the mound and just get after the hitters."

When Truesdale isn't on the baseball diamond, he said he enjoys running, reading or hanging out with friends. But, for now he has tuned out his other interests. He is focused on building upon his 5-0 record from last season.

"I hope we can play to our best ability," he said. "I want us to have fun but remain a really competitive team."
