Gimme 5: Doyle Chalks Up, Takes Flight at Andrew Gymnastics Camp
Twelve-year-old Tommy Doyle vaults to the forefront as he trains to become a part of the T-Bolts' team down the road.
Tucked away in the top, southwest corner of the Andrew High School gymnasium, 12-year-old Tommy Doyle is plugging away. He is a picture of repetition as he tries to master his front flip with gymnastics coach Allison Hack showing him the way during the T-Bolts recent three-week camp.
While a wide range of age groups were represented in the camp, Doyle was the only boy in attendance. But occasionally going solo hasn't hindered his love for the sport. The Tinley Park native was happy to be practicing with people who shared the same fondness for gymnastics.
"I get along with Coach Hack really well," Doyle said. "It's really fun. All the kids support me and help me. I've learned a lot."

Doyle also was quick to point out he wasn't always the only boy at practice.
"One of the older guys from the team came in and helped teach me the (pommel) horse, bars, and rings," he said. "I got a lot better after that."

Doyle plans on continuing with the sport, and hopes to compete on the Andrew gymnastic team in a few years.
When not perfecting his routine, he is California dreaming. He said his favorite summer travel spot is California because of the plethora of beaches.
