Gimme 5: Tinley Park's Pickrum Makes Her Home in Center Circle

Nowhere Bulldogs' Staci Pickrum would rather be than toeing the rubber in a big-time softball game.

For Tinley Park senior pitcher Staci Pickrum there is nowhere else she'd rather be than on the mound. To her, it feels like home.

"I just love softball," she said. "I feel like it's my calling."

Pickrum said she wants her team to achieve above and beyond what it has in the past, but she is focusing on getting there one step at a time.

"I want to go to the sectional championship," she said. "I want to go further than we did last year. But, obviously, if we could get to state that would be the thing I want the most. I just want us to go for it."

Pickrum started playing soccer before she played softball, but soon discovered that soccer wasn't for her. She picked up softball and never looked back.

In her free time, she likes to hang out with her friends. Or if she gets the chance, she loves to go on vacation and see new places.

If you run into Pickrum five years from now, she said hopes to have a speech pathology degree from Illinois State and hopes to be preparing herself for grad school.
