Glotz, Thirion Separate From Concerned Citizens For Tinley Park

Trustee Michael Glotz and Clerk Kristin Thirion cite disappointment in mayor as a reason to separate from political party.

TINLEY PARK, IL -- Two members of the Concerned Citizens for Tinley Park political party that won a sweep of the village election in April have separated from the party less than six months after they were elected. Trustee Michael Glotz and Clerk Kristin Thirion officially announced their separation from CCTP in a joint statement released Wednesday night.

Glotz and Therion cited their disappointment in Mayor Jacob Vandenberg, who led the CCTP ticket sweep in April, in the statement. They wrote that Vandenberg "has chosen a different path - one that leads away from our promises and away from serving the citizens of Tinley Park."

"Together, our team promised to restore the public’s trust and work together in the best interests of the citizens of Tinley Park," the statement reads in part. "Since taking office, we’ve worked tirelessly as Trustee and Clerk to deliver on those campaign promises."

"We adhere to the promise we made to oppose sweetheart deals for political campaign contributors and connected insiders, and pledge to act in good faith as representatives of the people and for the people."

The CCTP slate that claimed a clean sweep in April was led by Vandenberg, then a trustee who ousted incumbent Mayor Dave Seaman. Glotz, Therion, Cynthia Berg and William Brady were also on the CCTP ticket.
