Homeless Man Caught Stealing Woman's Cell Phone at Tinley Park Bar: Police
The homeless man planned to sell the phone because he has no money, police said.

A homeless man got caught stealing a woman’s cell phone off a table at a Tinley Park bar, police said.
Timothy Allen Koval, 26, told an officer he “took the cell phone to try and sell as he has no money, is homeless and is sleeping on friends’ couches to stay out of the cold,” police said.
Police officers reportedly were sent to an Oak Park Avenue bar to look into a report of a theft.

A 23-year-old woman told the officers she was “sitting at a table with some friends and had turned her back for a short time while leaving her Samsung S5 cell phone on the table,” police said.
“When she turned around the phone was gone,” police said. “There were very few people inside and only two other people close enough to have taken the phone.”

The woman and her friends asked the pair “if they had the phone and they both denied taking it,” police said. “The victim advised the phone was now turned off but the app that tracks the phone showed it (was) still at this location.”
Both Koval and the other man told an officer they did not have the phone, police said, and both agreed to let him pat them down.
When the officer frisked Koval, police said, he found the phone.
The young woman wanted Koval arrested, police said. He was taken into custody and later released on his own recognizance.
