Homeless Man In Custody In Tinley Park Bank Robbery (UPDATED)

The suspect is accused of robbing a Chase Bank location over the weekend. He was ordered detained by a federal judge Monday.

TINLEY PARK, IL — A homeless man was taken into custody in connection with a weekend bank robbery in Tinley Park, according to authorities. Thomas Conroyd, 38, was ordered detained by a federal judge Monday stemming from Saturday's robbery at Chase Bank, the FBI said. His next hearing is Thursday.

According to the FBI, the robbery happened at around 11:33 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Chase Bank location at 17157 Harlem Ave. Bank security camera images showed the suspect wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a black knit hat, the federal agency said.

Conroyd was captured by Tinley Park police shortly after the incident, according to a village alert about the robbery Saturday. The FBI thanked the police department for their help in the case Monday.

Another bank robbery also occurred last week in Midlothian. An unidentified armed man robbed the South Division Credit Union, 14740 S. Cicero Ave., on Friday, Feb. 2, according to the FBI.

The suspect, who used a handgun in the robbery, is described as 6-feet-2, medium build, with black hair, the FBI stated. The agency says he is armed and dangerous, and a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
