The first, a sensational throwback to the Pre-Prohibition era will be held Thursday, July 23rd and the second, on Thursday July 30th, features a takeover from BuckleDown Tap Brewing Company. Bottles of Batch 19 and Pre-Prohibition style lagers bring the intense flavors worth treasuring to Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel’s Pre-Prohibition Party on Thursday, July 23rd at 5 p.m. Classic cocktails and local spirits are in the mix for this one-of-a-kind period party. Highlighted cocktails include O’Leary’s Cow, a classic manhattan elevated with smoke, bitter sweet amaro and maraschino liqueur; the Gold Coast, a fresh herbal play on the classic whiskey sour that was invented in Wisconsin in 1870; the Dancing Irishman, a new Chicago version of the ‘old’ New Orleans Sazerac from the 1870’s; and the ‘L’ Car, a new play on a classic 1907 Ritz Carlton cocktail called the side car.

For all of the beer connoisseurs out there, on Thursday July 30th at 5 p.m. Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel will host a BuckleDown Tap Takeover. As this Chicagoland brewery takes over the taps for one night only, beer lovers can meet and greet with the co-owner of the brewery, Sean Mahoney, and indulge in over six taps of their beers as well as one unreleased beer available in bottles.
