Singer's Stolen Van Possibly Involved in Best Buy Break-in: Police

Ana Popovic's van might have been stolen for use as a getaway van following a smash-and-grab in Tinley Park.

A van reported stolen by a blues musician may have been stolen to swap out for a van used in a break-in at a Best Buy in Tinley Park.

Singer Ana Popovic, 39, of Memphis, Tennessee, on Friday reported her tour van stolen from a parking lot at a Best Western, 4375 Frontage Rd. The white, 2009 Ford Econoline with Pennsylvania plates was packed with thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment. Police on the scene also found a similar white van—a 2013 white Ford Econoline—with a shattered windshield. That van had been reported stolen out of Burnham, Oak Forest police said.

Early that Saturday morning, police surmise someone drove that 2013 van through an overhead door at Best Buy in Tinley Park, making off with an unknown amount of electronic merchandise. Police believe Popovic’s vehicle was then stolen to replace the other.

“I’m in complete shock,” Popovic wrote. “If you know of anything... We’re in the middle of a tour.... PLEASE HELP.”
