Tinley Park Considers Adding More Security Cameras

Village officials are mulling the cost of an expanded security program weeks after a home invasion shook the community.

TINLEY PARK, IL -- New security cameras could be installed in Tinley Park after a home invasion shook the community earlier this month. Officials in the village are considering an expansion of the security camera program and may add as may as 20 new ones along Harlem Avenue, La Grange Road and other streets, according to a report from the Daily Southtown.

Trustees are still seeking more information about the cost of adding more cameras and replacing some current ones with more updated devices that can read license plate numbers. The cameras would cost the village anywhere from $10,000 to $13,000 apiece.

Currently, Tinley Park has 138 cameras but some officials have called "useless" during nighttime hours.
