Tinley Park Exempts Businesses From Minimum Wage Law
Village won't force employers to raise wages to at least $10 an hour this year by opting out of Cook County law.

TINLEY PARK, IL - Businesses in Tinley Park won't have to abide by Cook County's minimum wage rules that will go into effect this summer, according to a report from the Daily Southtown.
The village board voted unanimously last week to opt out of the County laws, which call for a yearly raise in the minimum wage until it hits $13 per hour in 2020 and more requirements when it comes to sick time.
The ordinance approved by the village does require private sector employers to abide by state and federal laws concerning minimum wage, however.
The Cook County Board voted to require employers to provide paid sick leave and to raise the minimum wage from $8.25 an hour to $10 an hour this year, with raises of $1 an hour for the next three years.
