Tinley Park High School students enrolled in Culinary Arts, recently took a field trip to Salina's Catering. Owner Neal Hummitsch welcomed students and took them on a guided tour of the facility. He shared how he got started and what it takes to manage the business; stressing that consistency and hard work are keys to success. After an overview of procedures and reinforcement of the importance of safety and sanitation, students got hands-on experience in an environment of large quantity food production. Students made their own pizza using homemade sausage and other fresh ingredients. Thanks again to Mr. Hummitsch and the staff at Salina's! The students really enjoyed the experience!
