TINLEY PARK, IL — Tinley Park Police Department Deputy Chief Lori Mason has announced her retirement, as her last day on duty will be June 15, the department says. Mason began her career as a dispatcher for the department in 1981, before moving to the Orland Park Police Department in 1987 for the same job, only to return to the Tinley Park Police Department that same year to work as a police officer, according to a news release.

“Lori is a fine officer who will be sorely missed,” Interim Police Chief Charles Faricelli said in a release. “We wish her only the very best in her retirement and future plans.”

Mason also issued a statement in the wake of her news.

“Working for the police department I was able to enjoy my career as a street officer, an investigator, a task force officer for customs, a street sergeant, an administrative sergeant in charge of special events and finishing with the honor of being deputy chief, overseeing some of the best men and women I know working as police officers,” Mason said.
