- Egg Headz Cafe, 16952 S. Oak Park Ave.
Ed B. from Mokena says:
We have been here several times since my last update. They have proven to be very consistent with quality and great service. Clean bathrooms are a plus also.
Since the last time I wrote I have brought in a few people and they agree that this restaurant is as good as I it feel it is. In any case my wife always has the same thing as she is a basted egg, bacon and hashbrowns girl. Of all the places we have gone across the country she feels this is the best version. The hashbrowns here are among the best shredded type you will find. So tasty! As for me I have tried the skirt steak and eggs which is an ample portion of steak cooked perfect. I like my beef medium rare. I came with 3 eggs and those wonderful hashbrowns. Also tried a chorizo omelet with a sweet red pepper sauce and jack cheese and hashbrowns. It was really different and very good. Yesterday I tried an Italian skillet. It had diced Italian sausage of course with sautéed red peppers and onions, red sauce, hash browns and mozzarella cheese melted on top and topped with 2 eggs cooked to order. It was really good. I have also tried the grilled salmon and eggs. The portion of salmon is good and grilled to perfection. Of course most breakfasts have the choice of toast or pancakes. The lunch food here is also very good. I have tried the skirt steak sandwich and the breakfast burger which has an egg on it as well. Yum! Both come with fries (or hashbrowns if you like) and a cup of the daily soup.
This place is one restaurant that we are regulars at for breakfast now. Also be aware if coming on a weekend that you will likely have a wait of 10-20 minutes. This is a good sized place so that also speaks toward how in demand they are. The best in the southwest suburbs that we have been able to find so far.
2. The Egg & I, 7164 W. 183rd St.
Laura O. from Tinley Park says:
I love this place. I'd rather come here and not wait and have better food than go to Eggheadz down the street. Not saying I don't like Eggheadz - they're still one of my favorites. The hash browns here are delicious. They're actually "seasoned ranch potatoes" and they are the bomb - potato chunks seasoned all the way through. They have quite a bit of unique items on the menu here in addition to the classics. Benedicts, skillets, scrambles, frittatas. Some gluten free items too if you're into that. Biscuits and gravy were really good. My huevos rancheros (eggs with tortilla and salsa) were awesome. I need to go back and try the lunch since the Cream of Mushroom soup was so good, although it looks like just a couple of salads and sandwiches. Dawn the Manager was really helpful too.

Typical Cracker Barrel. Very good food, great service and decent prices. I had the egg sandwich on sourdough bread and it was great.
4. Creative Cakes Bakery & Cafe, 16649 S. Oak Park Ave.
Helen S. from Naperville says:
These are some of the most delicious cakes I've ever tasted! We picked Creative Cakes to do our wedding cake because we didn't want fondant and wanted someone who made really good buttercream. That is exactly what we got and so much more!
The service was fantastic and everyone we talked to was so nice and friendly. They had so many examples of different styles of cake decoration to show you it can be a little overwhelming at first if you don't have a good idea of what you want going into the meeting. We had a basic idea and the examples they showed us just allowed us to refine it.
The samples that they let you pick up to try at home are wonderful, my husband and I were able to relax and really think about what kinds of flavors we wanted our cake to have. Plus on your first-year anniversary they will remake the top tier of the cake for you, so we didn't have to worry about freezing it and whether or not it would be edible in a year.
They delivered the cake on time without any issues and everyone loved it. It tasted amazing. I highly recommend Creative Cakes for any cake needs!
