1. Cafe Miele, 11315 W. 159th St. in Orland Park.
Emily H. from Chicago Ridge says:
We were looking for a new South suburbs breakfast place to slide into the rotation and Café Miele came out of nowhere to hit all the sweet spots.
First, weekend seating density is usually oppressive. It's a known variable that if you go out to breakfast between 9-11am, you had better be prepared for a loud, elbow-to-elbow experience. But at 10am on a Saturday, Café Miele's density was optimal. There are easily-navigated aisles between tables, each shift of position in a booth isn't telegraphed into the spine of the person behind you, and conversation was still possible!
Second, the food was excellent! The plating was clean Americana Diner style. They can and will cook eggs to order, the waitress pays attention to details like "hash browns extra crispy, toast lightly browned", and the portions are huge. The coffee (medium roast) was average, but it just kept coming which was a nice change from having to essentially grind and brew the beans myself if I hoped to get a second cup at other places. They also have a juice bar where you can order custom juices and get fresh squeezed anything.

Blissful Banana Cafe deserves all of the stars in the sky.
My friend and I decided to visit the cafe yesterday because one of our best friends is a former employee. We have always heard wonderful things about the space, menu, and ambiance.
My friend and I drove separately and as I was puling into the lot, we both noticed a loud noise coming from the bottom of my car. The undercarriage on my car had broken off. A gentleman, who ended up being the owner of the cafe, Dennis, came over to assist (we didn't even ask for help). He diagnosed the problem AND took his own supplies to help put my undercarriage back together so I could get home safely. I have never witnessed such selflessness and kindness from a complete stranger. Dennis went above and beyond!
Blissful Banana Cafe not only has wonderful food and beverage (the Banana Bliss is FANTASTIC) but the love and attention to their patrons is awesome.
I want to come back to this cafe as often as possible! I may live in Bucktown but the drive is so worth it.
3. Lumes Pancake House, 9060 W. 159th St.
Heather M. from Springfield says:
My parents were in town briefly so we all went here for an early breakfast together. I had a hard time deciding but I got the Farmland Veggie omelette with Swiss cheese and the GF cinnamon-apple waffle. They were both fantastic, especially the waffle! Easily the best waffle I can recall eating in my life. The portions are generous, so I had enough leftovers for another meal or two. Mom and Dad really their food too. Linda was our server, and she was pleasant and prompt.
4. Qasr Al-Deyafah, 9218 W. 159th St.
Leena S. from Orland Park says:
Best shawarma sandwich I've had in North America. They actually use the original shraak bread, not a tortilla.
They have complimentary appetizers that are good. The service was great, everyone was so friendly. The lentil soup was also the best I have had at a restaurant.
Good job Qasr Al-Deyafah! I definitely intend to be a regular here!
5. Original Pancake House, 15256 S. Lagrange Road

Gail W. from Palos Hills says:
Had an hour to kill between appointments and was craving breakfast. Not too many egg choices, but it is called a pancake house, after all. Had the senior 2x2x2. The eggs were not only extra large, but perfectly soft poached. Not too many cooks can make great poached eggs. And while i rarely order coffee (spoiled by the strong stuff I brew at home), theirs was actually a tasty medium body blend. So a bit steep $-wise by maybe a buck or so compared to my regular neighborhood spot, but service and food were both very good, and booth seating was comfortable.
