Village Employees Won't Have To Live In Tinley Park Anymore

Full-time employees for the village of Tinley Park will still have to live within 30 miles of the center of town.

TINLEY PARK, IL -- Municipal employees in Tinley Park will no longer need to live in the village after the village board agreed to ease restrictions during its meeting this week. Beginning now, those who work in almost every capacity for the village just need to live within 30 miles of the center of town.

A new contract was approved at the meeting that allows full-time employees to live within the 30-mile radius of the intersection of 183rd Street and 80th Avenue, according to a report from the Daily Southtown. Residency outside of Illinois will remain forbidden, however.

The contract excludes the holders of certain executive positions, all of whom must still live in Tinley Park. Those include the village manager, police chief, public works director, emergency management/911 communications director and fire chief.
