• Suburban toy company files another lawsuit to challenge Trump's tariffs (wgntv.com) — A Vernon Hills-based educational toy maker, Learning Resources, is again leading a major court challenge to President Trump's latest round of tariffs, arguing he lacks authority to impose them without Congress. The company, which employs about 500 people locally, already won a Supreme Court ruling and millions in refunds earlier this year and now hopes to overturn a new tariff package tied to forced child labor concerns.
   

• Greendale Macy's, JCPenney targeted in $2.4M cross-country jewelry heists (wisn.com) — A multi-state jewelry theft ring that hit stores in Wisconsin and New York also struck Rogers & Hollands in Vernon Hills, where thieves stole more than $260,000 in jewelry. Investigators say license plate reader data and DNA evidence are helping them zero in on a suspect, though no one has been charged yet and the case remains active.
