Bubble Gum Day Raises $585 for Charity

Hawthorn Middle School North's fundraiser benefits nonprofits.

Hawthorn Middle School North celebrated National Bubble Gum Day on Feb. 1 by allowing students to pay for the privilege of chewing gum at school.

Children who donated 50 cents were allowed to chew gum for the day.

The students raised a total of $585, which will go to Misericordia, which provides services for people with development disabilities, and Feed My Starving Children, which provides meals to countries impacted by severe hunger.
