ComEd Helps Restore Rare Plant Areas

ComEd and the Chicago Botanic Garden are teaming up to restore areas where rare plants are growing in Vernon Hills, the Lake County Journal reports. They are working to restore the prairie plants on ComEd right of way property and beneath power lines in the village, and in two other areas of Lake County.
The area in Vernon Hills is an overgrown nursery  The goal in restoring the plants is to help save the native plants, create habitats for birds and butterflies, and to better manage storm water. As they restore the area, they need to get rid of invasive species. Both the Botanic Garden and ComEd are working together toward the goal.
