Coroner IDs Women Killed In Vernon Hills Apartment Fire
The women have been identified as Camille Lozano, 33, and Polly Jensen, 39, both of Vernon Hills, authorities said.
VERNON HILLS, IL — Authorities have identified the two people killed in an apartment fire in Vernon Hills early Sunday.
The Vernon Hills Police Department and Countryside Fire Protection District were called to the blaze in the 900 block of South Court of Shorewood shortly after 3 a.m. where they discovered a heavy fire. They found two women inside during a search of the apartment and pronounced one of the women dead at the scene.
The other woman was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead in the emergency room, according to a news release from the Lake County Coroner's Office.

Results from an autopsy show both died from thermal and inhalation injuries as a result of the fire, according to the news release.

The blaze was extinguished but left the building uninhabitable, police said, adding the American Red Cross is working to assist displaced residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
