Couple Found Dead In Vernon Hills Home In Murder-Suicide: Police

VERNON HILLS, IL — A Vernon Hills couple was found fatally shot in their home Wednesday morning. Authorities are investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide, police said.

Vernon Hill police were called to the 400 block of Cherry Valley Road at about 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday after receiving a report of two people who were dead inside the single-family home, according to a news release.

The married couple, a 67-year-old woman and 77-year-old man, were both pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

The gun has been recovered, police said.

Authorities found no forced entry into the home, and preliminary indications show that the tragic incident is a "murder-suicide," according to the news release.

The deaths remain under investigation, according to authorities.
