District 128 Moving Ahead With Budget
The District 128 School Board held a public hearing on its budget this month. The budget calls for a 3.4 percent increase over last year.

The Community High School District 128 school board is moving closer to approving its budget for fiscal year 2014, the Chicago Tribune reports. The board held a public hearing on the proposed $84.5 million budget, and it set to discuss it again later this month.
School officials say the budget for the high school district is up 3.4 percent from last year because of higher teacher compensation, benefits and increased construction costs. It includes funds a parking lot resurfacing at Vernon Hills High School. The board tentatively approved the budget last month, and will bring it up for final approval on August 26.
