Exercise Across America 2017

97 residents trekked more than 1600 miles in Sedgebrook’s Exercise Across America initiative.

The annual program enlists residents to choose their USA “destination” and then set about reaching it over the course of a month by exercising, racking up miles on the elliptical or bike, swimming laps in the pool, or walking. For every mile completed, they’re awarded 100 miles.

“We exceeded our expectations by reaching 1,623 miles logged, which translates for our program, into 16,230 miles,” said Ruth Reyna, fitness manager at Sedgebrook. “That actually more than five times the distance from the east coast to the west coast.” The program is a way of encouraging residents of the senior living community, to keep moving.
