Five Sent to Hospital Following Carbon Monoxide Leak at Vernon Hills Home

All five residents of a Vernon Hills home were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Five residents living in a single-family home in Vernon Hills were taken to the hospital Sunday for treatment of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The Countryside Fire Protection District was dispatched to a home in the 300 block of Sutcliffe Circle in Vernon Hills at 1 p.m. Sunday. The five occupants of the home had evacuated the residence and firefighters found elevated carbon monoxide levels in the home.

All five occupants were transported in two ambulances to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville conscious and alert with non-life threatening injuries.

Crews shut down the furnace and water heater and ventilated the house. Peoples Gas representatives responded as well.
