On Thursday, November 14, the GLMV Chamber of Commerce business community welcomed Chick-fil-A to Vernon Hills with a Grand Opening/Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. The restaurant, located near Routes 21 and 60 in Vernon Hills, is Lake County's first and Chick-fil-A's 1,771st location nationwide. Attendees enjoyed chicken sandwiches, tours, and networking.
Special opening weekend events open to the public include: * 11/15-16 Non-Perishable Food Drive, 10-8 pm - Recognizing that some community residents may struggle economically, especially as the holidays near, the restaurant is partnering with The Chapel for a non-perishable food drive at the restaurant to benefit the Community CARE Center. Donate four or more items and receive a coupon for a free chicken sandwich. Items needed include: soup, chili, fruit, tomatoes, and tuna.
* 11/15 Chicago Bears linebacker, #59 Khaseem Greene will greet fans and sign autographs, 4-6 p.m. * 11/15 Mini Milkshake Bash for area high school students, 8-10 p.m.
