Household Chemical Waste Collection Event Held in Coming Weeks

The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County is hosting a household chemical waste collection event on November 1, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Mundelein Metra Train Station, 205 N. Archer Avenue.

Accepted materials include aerosol products, antifreeze and motor oil, fertilizer/herbicides/pesticides, fluorescent light bulbs/CFLs, furniture stripper and varnishes, gasoline and kerosene, household batteries (lithium and rechargeable only), household cleaners, oil-based paints and paint removers, prescription and over-the-counter medicines and supplements (people and pet), NO DEA controlled substances.

Not accepted items include latex paint, DEA controlled substances, business wastes, farm chemicals, propane tanks, lead-acid and alkaline batteries, explosives, medical wastes, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and household electronics.
