Lightning Strike Forces 4 Vernon Hills Families Out of Apartment
The strike during Monday night's storm didn't cause a fire, but it did damage the building's roof.

Crews from the Countryside Fire Protection District responded to the lightning strike at about 7 p.m. to an apartment building in the 300 block of Alpine Springs Drive, the report stated. Although there was no fire, the lightning left two holes in the roof and caused electrical problems in the building, the report added.
The four families needed to find other temporary accommodations because of the damage, according to the report.
