A man who was shot and killed Sunday by Sleepy Hollow police has been identifiedΒ asΒ Erdenebileg Sambuunyam, 40,Β of Buffalo Grove, according to a Kane County Coroner's OfficeΒ press release.
Sambuunyam was holding a knifeΒ and attempted to cut two officers before he was shot shortly beforeΒ noon outside a home in the 1800 block of Maple Lane in Sleepy Hollow, according to the Daily Herald.Β
He was pronounced dead at 12:38 p.m. Sunday at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin. The cause of death is pending autopsy and toxicology results, coronerβs office officials said.

When officers arrived at a domestic call Sunday, they found a male injured outside andΒ Sambuunyam whoΒ was "was still in pursuit of aΒ femaleΒ who was already bleeding from the head," according to the Northwest Herald.Β

The conditions of thoseΒ injured during the domestic disturbanceΒ was unknownΒ as ofΒ Wednesday afternoon, according to the Daily Herald. The Northwest Herald reports the two officersΒ have been put onΒ paid administrative leave.Β
Illinois State Police are investigating the case,Β according to the news release.Β
