Mundelein Park District to Host Free Beach Bash
The beach bash will be held on June 22 at Diamond Lake Beach.

From Mundelein Parks: Mark your calendar for full day of free fun at Mundelein Park & Recreation Districtβs (www.mundeleinparks.org) Beach Bash (formerly the Community Picnic) on Saturday, June 22. This community get-together runs from 10 am to 8 pm at Diamond Lake Beach (1016 Diamond Lake Road), and is packed full of good old fashioned fun. Start the day off with free admission to the beach, where you can go for a swim in the lake, take a spin on a paddle boat, cruise the lake on a kayak, traverse around on a paddleboard, play a game of beach volleyball, give log rolling a try on our Key Log, or just relax and soak up the sunshine. Food trucks will be on hand during lunch and dinner hours.
Instructors from Mundelein Park Districtβs Park View Health & Fitness will be offering two free fitness classes on the beach with aZumba at 10 am followed by a relaxing Yoga class at 11 am. Children 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
There will be a sand castle building competition at noon with prizes awarded. Children ages 6 β 12 can enter to be a contestant in our Ninja Warrior Competition at 1 pm. Pre-registration required and can be made at www.mundeleinparks.org/NinjaWarriorCompetition. Medals will be awarded to the winners. Various competitions and family challenges will be held throughout the afternoon.

At 3 pm cheer on competitors in the Cardboard Regatta. Boats made only of cardboard, duct tape and paint compete for a variety of awards including the fastest boat in each class, the best sink (and there will be many) as well as a host of other awards based on creativity, enthusiasm and more. Registration is also required to participate in the Cardboard Regatta www.mundeleinparks.org/CardboardRegatta. Not sure if you can build a sea-worthy cardboard boat? New this year is a FREE Cardboard Regatta boat building workshop on Thursday, June 13 from 4 β 6 pm for all registered to participate in the event. It will be held at the beach and cardboard and basic supplies are provided!

Top the day off with an exciting water ski performance by the Wonder Lake Water Ski Show Team (www.wonderlakeskiteam.org) at 6 pm. The show features tricks, freestyle jumps, fast-paced barefoot skiing and those famous pyramid formations. There are great viewing areas from both the beach and grassy area and guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair.
