New Mundelein Park Opening in May
A ribbon cutting for Holcomb Park is set for May 11.
From Mundelein Park & Recreation District: Mundelein Park & Recreation District will hold a ribbon cutting at 11 am Saturday, May 11 as they officially open Holcomb Park. ocated at the corner of Goodwin Place and NW Holcomb Drive, the new park is just under Β½ acre and has two pieces of playground equipment, one designed for 2-5 year olds and one designed for 5-12 year olds. The park includes swings, spring toys, diggers and benches.
Part of the property was acquired from the Pape family. A bench located at the northeast corner of the park is dedicated to the memory of Vice Pape.

Village of Mundelein, the Park District acquired the property. The District reimbursed the
Village for all of their direct expenses related to the property, and had the home and garage on the property demolished in early 2018.

The park was designed by HR Green Development (landscape architect) and the work was performed by Copenhaver Construction.
βThe Holcomb neighborhood has been supportive and encouraged the Park District to find a spot for a park in the neighborhood,β said Margaret Resnick, Executive Director, Mundelein Park District, βThe residents of this area will no longer have to drive to visit a park. We are thrilled to open this Holcomb Park in time for the warmer weather.β
Established in 1954, Mundelein Park District has 34 park sites providing over 700+ acres of open space, playgrounds, ballfields, lakes and trails. It offers over 1,000 yearly programs, including tennis and dance lessons, martial arts, softball and basketball leagues, swim instruction, art and music classes, health and wellness programs, culinary classes, adult day trips, science classes, family special events and day camps.
