Parade, Pep Rally Highlight Vernon Hills Homecoming Week

It's Homecoming week at Vernon Hills High School, and there are lots of activities for students and the community to enjoy.

According to the school website, this year's theme is "Vernon Hills: Where Dreams Come True."

Spirit Week started Oct. 1 with Sports Day. Today, Oct. 2, is Tourist/Favorite Vacation Day. The week will be rounded out with Disney Day, Class Color Competition and Cougar Spirit Day—White Out.

Other activities this week include the Homecoming Parade at 6:15 p.m. Oct. 4, a Pep Rally at 7:15 p.m. Oct. 4 and the Homecoming Assembly at 2:32 p.m. Oct. 5.

The parade will follow this route:

• Parade starts at Cherokee Park at 6:15 p.m.

• West Bound on Cherokee Park to Deerpath Drive

• North Bound on Deerpath Drive to Phillip Road

• East Bound on Phillip Road to Lakeview Parkway

• East Bound on Lakeview Parkway to Fairway Drive

• South Bound on Fairway Drive to Lakeview Parkway

• East Bound on Lakeview Parkway to the west entrance of Vernon Hills High School

The Vernon Hills High School Cougars will take on North Chicago in the varsity football game at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 5. The sophomore game is slated for 5 p.m.

The Homecoming Dance will be held at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6.
