School Receives Grant

Hawthorn Elementary South School's first grade team has recently received the Illinois Biodiversity grant.

Hawthorn Elementary South School’s first grade team has recently received the Illinois Biodiversity grant through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Division of Education. Elementary South first graders plan to visit the Heller Nature Center in Highland Park. Heller’s education program offers an opportunity for students to learn about the natural world through experiences in an outdoor setting. The children will discover the four basic components of all habitats and how they are important to the survival of living things. Students will get a first-hand look at habitats and adaptations.
