Science Olympiad Team Brings Home 16 Medals

The Hawthorn Middle School North Science Olympiad team faced off against some of the toughest schools in Illinois on Feb. 2 and walked away with 16 medals.

Team members include Ankit Agrawal, Neel Choudhary, Ashwini Deshpande, Ben Favreau, Pranav Goel, Priyanka Gupte, Lou Halperin, Aris Herrera NG, Trinity Hutson, Olivia Jazbutis, Nathan Ju, Kevin Diaz, Emily Komesar, Yulia Kornikova, Hayden Lau, Kelly Lee, Oliver Leung, Sophia Li, Nikhil Mangtani, Peter Marek, Annette Mathews, Hirsch Nangia, Carlos Nevarez, Anmol Parande, Rithva Ramesh, Aakash Setty, Rinkey Shaw, Riah Shaw, Bryan Shim and Calvin Yoon.

Teacher Tommie Arens is proud of the fact that seven Vernon Hills High School students (who are also Hawthorn alumni) are volunteering to help students prepare and compete.
