Vernon Hills, Ill. –State Representative Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, held a community dialogue with her Education Citizens’ Advisory Committee discussing an alternative state education funding formula, implementation challenges with federal and state programs, school safety, anti-bullying, drug prevention, and classroom resources on Thursday night at Vernon Hills High School.
"As a member of the House Elementary & Secondary Education Appropriations Committee and a strong voice for our youth, I understand the importance of maintaining a candid and open dialogue with constituents passionate about education in our community,” Sente said. “It was a particularly effective event because we had a diverse group of citizens including parents, school board members, teachers, and administrators come together for a spirited discussion focused on ensuring our children continue to receive a world-class education. I look forward to incorporating many of the ideas discussed at our meeting into policy decisions when the General Assembly resumes next year.”
Sente holds several different Citizens’ Advisory Committee meetings throughout the year to discuss topics on education, environment, business, special needs, youth, and health care.
