NewTrend Medical Spa in Vernon Hills offers newest technology in acne treatment, body contouring and more
Residents throughout the northwest suburbs who want to improve their appearance have a unique option with NewTrend Med Spa in Vernon Hills.
“It’s a one-stop shop,” said Dr. Ashima Mehta, medical director at NewTrend. “My passion has always been to help people in every part of life.”
At NewTrend, patients can receive skin tightening treatments, laser hair removal, body contouring and other beautifying and anti-aging services.

“Everything we do is customized to the patient’s needs,” Mehta explained.
Mehta, a board certified gynecologist and obstetrician, said the idea for NewTrend came 10 years ago when she was a practicing gynecologist. Some of her patients, she said, began addressing issues related to menopause management.

“My patients had been asking me what I could do,” she said.
Wanting to hone her skills on hormone management and anti-aging services, Mehta opened NewTrend two years later.
“I always like to see my patients comprehensively, so I wanted a comprehensive type of place,” she said. “I want to give the customers peace of mind that they’ll be taken care of.”
NewTrend also offers pap smears and other routine gynecological services.
“It’s nice because the patient can get it from someone they’re already comfortable with,” said Kelly Servia, aesthetician and certified laser technician at NewTrend.
Mehta, Servia and Stephanie Scalet, aesthetician and clinic manager at NewTrend, explained some of the services they offer like skin tightening, in which infrared light energy and skin cooling techniques deliver heat below the skin’s surface.
“It’s a good option for people who don’t want to go under the knife,” said Scalet.
New technology in body contouring also allows Mehta and her staff to use radio frequency to cause destruction of fat cells.
“We behave like plastic surgeons without cutting,” said Mehta.
Servia said body contouring, which takes several treatments, is an extremely effective non-invasive way for patients to improve their appearance and self-esteem.
“Nobody really wants to go under the knife,” she said.
NewTrend also offers acne management treatments like chemical peels and other techniques that exfoliate and remove dead skin cells.
NewTrend is also unique in that it’s run solely by Mehta, Scalet and Servia.
“We all help each other out,” said Scalet. “It’s easy for them (patients) to talk with us because it’s just us three.”
Scalet said NewTrend also consults patients on at-home care after undergoing procedures.
“These treatments can be life-changing for people,” she said. “We try to give them pointers on how to address those issues at home as well.”
Mehta said she enjoys not just changing people’s lives, but also building relationships with her diverse array of clients she has obtained since opening NewTrend. The evolution of technology, she said, has also been beneficial since many patients receive procedures that require no downtime for recovery.
“Women come in on their lunch breaks, which is great,” she said. “It’s evolved and that has served me and my patients very well.”
