Vernon Hills Police Are Collecting Toys For Tots

From Nov. 1- Dec. 14, Vernon Hills Police Dept will again be a drop-off location for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.

From VHPD: From November 1 through December 14, the Vernon Hills Police Department will again be a drop-off location for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. Last year, we collected enough toys to fill seventeen boxes. We’d like to repeat that again this year – or beat it.

All kinds of toys can be donated. Some ideas for older children include sporting equipment/bags/balls, books, backpacks, cosmetics, purses, watch/wallet gift sets, bath gift sets, board games, radio control cars/trucks, hand-held electronics, skateboards/helmets, curling irons, hair straighteners, and hair dryers. The Toys for Tots program accepts new, unwrapped items. Realistic looking weapons or gifts with food will not be accepted.

If donated, such items will NOT be distributed.Naturally, the Police Department drop-off box at 740 Lakeview Parkway is available 24 hours-a-day. However, the Vernon Hills Village Hall and the Vernon Hills Public Works facility are also drop-off locations. Visit vhpd.com for the hours these additional boxes are accessible.

β€œWe hope everyone joins us in making the holidays happy for children who might otherwise receive nothing,” said Patrick L. Kreis, Chief of Police. "It would be great if we had to empty the box every single day.”
