
After 15 years as the village manager of Vernon Hills, Michael Allison will be retiring and assistant village manager John Kalmar will take his spot on Feb. 1, 2014, according to the Chicago Tribune.
During his tenure, he told the Chicago Tribune he is most proud of his role in assisting with budget issues during hard economic times in 2004, 2008 and 2009 and seeing through the construction of Vernon Hill High School.
Another one of his proudest feats as village manager involved the development of the Vernon Hills Athletic Complex, according to the Vernon Hills Review.
Kalmar, whose proposed salary is $155,000, has previous work experience as the village administrator for Hawthorn Woods and the assistant city planner for Lake Forest, according to the Vernon Hills Review.
